As Father’s Day approaches, there are many who celebrate their Dads. These men have been excellent role models for their children. They have raised them with love and respect and have provided a safe home. Their children are well-adjusted, displaying mature coping skills that enable them to live life independently.
Sadly, there are many others who have not got Dads that they want to celebrate. They have been brutalized or neglected emotionally and physically; leaving their children afraid, confused and lacking the necessary skills to cope in relationships and with life in general! They survive life, they don’t know how to truly live it with joy in their hearts!
God provides a safe haven! He is a Father to the fatherless, a Provider and Protector to all! He gives peace to our hearts and minds as we grapple to live life on this earth. You can reach Him and speak to Him and trust Him with all your hurts, secrets and doubts. How? Jesus said, “Find a quiet secluded place so that you won’t be tempted to role-play before God.
Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you’ll begin to sense his grace. ….This is your father you are dealing with, and He knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply.” Matthew 6:6-8/**[The
Don’t know what to say? Just talk to Him as you would a close friend. Nobody else will hear what you say or know what you are thinking. God is safe!
Prayer: God – please hear me and help me. You know what is right for me. So I put my life in Your hands and trust You with everything. God bless the good Dads! Help the not-so-good Dads to become better. Help every child to put their trust in You, so they can live life to the fullest, no matter what they have experienced in the past. Amen!
I read recently, in The Daily Bread (www.rbc.org), that over 15 million people die each year from starvation. A mind boggling figure that tends to be just a number. Each number is a person! A child, a woman, a man! Attempting to do the best they can. But it is never enough.
They do not have adequate income to buy food! They cannot grow enough to support their needs! Never enough resources available for them to access.
We are called to HELP those in distress! No, we cannot help them all, but one by one with the little help we can give, can keep one more person alive or at the very least, keep them healthy and well!
We can each donate to a local food bank. Support missions and charities that drill wells for fresh drinking water! Help with breakfast or lunch programs! Just a little can do so much!
Galatians 2:10 They asked us to do only one thing – to remember to help the poor. And this was something that I really wanted to do. (ICB)

As many of you know, I recently submitted two photographs into a contest. Prizes include photographic equipment.
I’ve been kinda bugging folk to vote, although, I prefer to think of it as reminders!
Obviously, apart from the excitement of watching votes grow in number, I anticipate the possibility of winning a prize! No guarantee on that I realize!
On the other hand, there is a much greater prize to be won and it is guaranteed if you follow the rules.
Philippians 3:12 I do not mean that I am already as God wants me to be. I have not yet reached that goal. But I continue trying to reach it and to make it mine. Christ wants me to do that. That is the reason Christ made me His. Brothers, I know that I have not yet reached that goal. But there is one thing I always do: I forget the things that are past. I try as hard as I can to reach the goal that is before me. I keep trying to reach the goal and get the prize. That prize is mine because God called me through Christ to the life above. (NCV) – International Children’s Bible
The prize? Eternal life! A life far better than anything we can experience here on earth. It is a prize awarded to you when you truly believe God has a Son named Jesus Christ. That He died for you. Rose from the dead, for you. He wants you to trust in Him and follow the guidance, that only the Bible gives! The truth!
Prayer: Father, we struggle in life here on earth, but know if we hang on to the truths found in the Bible, and accept Jesus Christ into our lives, we are assured a life beyond our imaginings. Thankyou, for a hope that never dies. Amen.

Even though the songs are on a christmas album, I often play these songs from Susan Boyle’s cd The Gift.
I imagine myself mulling over the events of a beautiful time spent with God, when I listen to Perfect Day!
Oh it’s such a perfect day, I’m glad I spent it with You………
and in her rendition of Make Me A Channel of Your Peace, I yearn to be that channel for someone else. Somebody struggling – sometimes, it’s myself.
Make me a channel of Your peace, where there is hatred let me bring Your love, where there is injury Your pardon, Lord, and where there’s doubt true faith in You!
The words are a balm when presented by Susan, with her wonderful voice.
My hope is our day will reach the end, having been a perfect day in God’s estimation. I further hope another person is blessed by words we speak, or by our actions.
Abba, We pray and ask Your guidance on all matters, and we will be obedient to Your prompting, whatever the need.
