Change Your Life

If you are struggling with life or are in a situation that you are unable to control; may I suggest you open a Bible? If you do not own one, a visit to your local library will fill that need.

Not only can you find guidelines on how to live a good life, but you can also find encouragement and wisdom, to help you make better decisions.

For instance, in Philippians 3:18-20

Many people live like enemies of the cross of Christ. I have often told you about them, and it makes me cry to tell you about them now. The way they live is leading them to destruction. Instead of serving God, they do whatever their bodies want. They do shameful things, and they are proud of it. They think only about earthly things. But our homeland is in heaven, and we are waiting for our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, to come from heaven. (International Children’s Version)

There is a better way to live than disrespecting yourself, your body or other people. God, who is a God of pure love explains in the following passages –

Take a look at 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a where it tells us what true love is like. Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, and is not proud. Love is not rude, is not selfish, and does not become angry easily. Love does not remember wrongs done against it. Love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. Love patiently accepts all things. It always trusts, always hopes and always continues strong. Love never ends. (ICV)

So if you are not treating yourself this way, or somebody you know is not treating you this way; moreso, if you are not acting this way towards the people who love you – perhaps you need to reconsider your lifestyle!

May God bless you and keep you safe.

Pleasing or Loving?

Knowing right from wrong and then choosing to live in a way that is respectful of others is a choice. Living life your own way and disregarding others is not only selfish it is wrong and will bring repercussions that you will regret – not necessarily soon but eventually and you will experience like behavior towards yourself, so think before you treat others unkindly because it will come back to you, one way or another.

1 Thessalonians 4:1-8, 4:11-12

Brothers, now I have some other things to tell you. We taught you how to live in a way that will please God. And you are living that way. Now we ask you and encourage you in the Lord Jesus to live that way more and more. You know what we told you to do by the authority of the Lord Jesus. God wants you to be holy and to stay away from sexual sins. He wants each one of you to learn how to choose a wife in a way that is holy and honorable. Don’t use your body for sexual sin (depravity). The people who do not know God use their bodies for that. So do not wrong your brother or cheat him in this way. The Lord will punish people who do those things. (There is a consequence for everything you do). We have already told you and warned you about that. God called us to be holy and does not want us to live in sin (disregarding and not respecting each other). So the person who refuses to obey this teaching is refusing to obey God, not man. And God is the One who gives us His Holy Spirit (making us better at discerning right from wrong and then choosing to make changes in our lives, to live according to His laws and direction – never hurting or maiming or killing).

Do all you can to live a peaceful life. Take care of your own business. Do your own work. We have already told you to do these things. If you do, then people who are not believers will respect you. And you will not have to depend on others for what you need.

God loves you. He always has and always will. I pray that you choose to live in accordance with His direction outlined in the Bible. Life improves day by day as you choose to love and live His way.

Rich Beyond Compare!

I am rich beyond compare!

I have family and friends.

I have a roof over my head and heat, water and comfort.

I have clothes to wear and even enough to share.

I have freedom and safety.

That is a life of riches!

But it took me a while to realize how fortunate I am. You know those times, when troubles strike and you cannot see your way through the ‘darkness’. Those are the times when the ‘poor me’ syndrome kicks in and nothing lifts you up out of those doldrums.

Now, with world strife and wars and famine abounding, how rich I am to be where I am, with what I have and with who I have in my life. Rich beyond compare I call it, and I am thankful for it all. Most of all I am thankful for my attitude of thankfulness, it’s a much nicer place to be than the ‘why is this happening to me’ place.

1 Timothy 6:6-10 says it all: Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world and is certain we can carry nothing out.And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness and pierced themselves through with many arrows. (NKJV)

John 3:16

You know, I have to confess I don’t understand how God was willing to send His Son to die for me, and how Jesus would agree to do such a thing.

I don’t understand the agony of the Father and every angel in heaven as they watched Jesus suffer and die.

I don’t understand the intense love for ME that kept Jesus on the cross till the end.

I don’t understand it, but it sure does make life worth living.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should
not perish, but have everlasting life.

We Will Remember Them

We will remember all those who have given their lives, so that we could live in a state of peace.

Christ gave His life, so that we could enjoy a spiritual peace in eternity.

Whether you choose to believe that or not – it is fact.

Philippians 2:29-30 Hold such men in esteem; because for the work of Christ he came close to death, not regarding his life.

Christian or not – let us work to bring peace into a world that is increasingly aggressive.

Remember……….

Whenever you feel overwhelmed or in despair, it can make such a difference when you choose  to ‘go to God in prayer’;  He will reassure and raise you up above the troubles of this earthly world.

“The Lord your God is with you.  He is mighty to save.  He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing”.  Zephaniah 3:17

Prayer:  Abba, please hold the reader close to you and give him or her a sense of Your peace.  In Jesus Name, Amen!

This Is Not Love!

Name calling or making another person feel badly about themselves.

Controlling what another person does, where they go, who they form friendships with.

Refusing to communicate: using children or another person to give messages to someone else.

Demanding any sexual activity that is unwanted or coerced.

Controlling all aspects of money and time outside the home.

Hitting or slapping; biting, pushing or harming another person in any way.

Refuse to allow access to all care and work outside the home.

Never tell another person that the abuse perpetrated against them is for their own good or only done in fun.

Respect one another and treat others

as you would want to be treated yourself.

Respect is earned and not to be demanded as your personal right!
